Home Retreat

Retreats prepared by Fr Kevin Canty CM

Can you take ten or fifteen minutes each day, just to sit and pray with your God?

Can you stop turn off the radio, the TV, the phone, the computer and anything else that might distract you?

Take this time to have your own retreat in the space of your own home.

A Retreat at Home during Holy Week

Some might consider Holy Week as the best time for a Retreat, because of what we celebrate. Often we pray : “Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again.” On this is our faith based. Can I take some time during this week to stop from my normal activities, find a quiet place, seek quiet within, and reflect upon the story of this week. I first become aware of my own being, my own breathing, as I seek to be aware of God’s presence with me. The following may assist in my prayer and reflection. Take what is helpful. Stay wherever your God seems to speak to you. Come back to what may have been significant for you. Above all, be with your God. Stop! Listen! Respond! Live!

Part 1 - "Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are
     doing."

Part 2 - "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Part 3 - "Woman, this is your son. ..., This is your mother."

  Part 4 - "I am thirsty."

Part 5 - "In truth I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise."

Part 6 and 7 - “Father into your hands I commit my spirit"/
     "It is fulfilled."
