FAMVIN WYD Logo

Introducing the “FAMVIN 2008” -
Vincentian Family Celebration Logo.

Alicia Webster, a young volunteer of the St Vincent de Paul Society New South Wales, is behind the concept for the Vincentian Family Celebration logo. Alicia explains her inspiration for the design.

“Symbology of the seed: There are numerous references in the bible to the seed. They are fragile, vulnerable and reliant on others. One that is neglected, untendered is one that cannot grow. One that is treated with care often flourishes. When people take time to nurture the seed, they are witness to the plant as it develops and marvel as it grows in strength and independence.

In many ways, that is the exact feeling we get from our works, whether it be Kids Camp or Home Visitation. When we take the time to form relationships with those in need, to help them grow, they can go on to " ...take control of their own destiny".

I see God as a nurturing, loving, spiritual guide for each and every one of us and for me, Vinnies is an extension of that support - God working through us.

In the same way that God lifts us up, fills us with love and a sense of security, Vincentians provide that same compassion, spirit, dignity and love to those in need.

Vinnies also provides that support and fellowship within the Vincentian family - to share our faith and to nurture the spiritual, emotional, social and physical well-being of members, volunteers as well as those we serve.”

“I think it's great that the logo means different things to different people, because it means that it fuels something inside that is specific and unique to each of us and our works.”

This is what we hope the Vincentian Family Celebration will do … fuel something inside of us to go out into our world and live out the message and example of St Vincent and others whom we look to for inspiration.
